Responsible
Lending

At Salt & Lime, we believe in fostering responsible lending practices in every aspect of our business. The people we choose to lend to, the way we approach debt consolidation, and our customer service are all designed to give you control of your cash flow and help you reach financial freedom.

A loan you can afford

As part of our commitment to responsible lending, we take seriously the task of accurately assessing an applicant’s ability to make their repayments and whether they are suitable for one of our products. This means getting a clear picture of your current finances and debt position, as well as assessing an applicant’s future capacity to fund their outstanding debts. We take a reasonable, common-sense approach to make sure that all of our customers can comfortably repay their loans, both now and into the future.

Flexibility to offer you greater freedom

Salt & Lime has several loan amounts to suit your personal circumstances and help give you relief from the stress of debt. Personal loan amounts range from $4,000 to $20,000. You can pay your loan out at any stage, and we don’t charge additional fees or charges.

Income

To meet our responsible lending guidelines, we require customers to have had regular income for the past 3 months and evidence of continuing income being paid into a personal bank account.

Not sure if you meet our requirements? Have a look at our eligibility checklist. You can apply if:

  • You're over 18 years of age

  • You have regular income for at least three months and can provide payslips

  • You're an Australian Citizen or Permanent resident

  • You're able to be contacted via phone and email

  • You have an online banking account set up

Open and transparent

Salt & Lime operates with a mission to put our customers first and offer genuine help to those struggling to free themselves from the cycle of debt. There are no obligations to take up an approved loan application, we don’t do hidden fees and charges, and we operate in line with all relevant Commonwealth and State Legislation.

If you want to free yourself from the spiral of debt repayments with no end in sight, find out how our transparent debt consolidation services make a real difference in our customers’ lives.

Verification of identity

Our responsible lending practices require that we collect some personal information from you. This is so we can verify who you are, approve your loan, and ensure funds are sent to the right bank account.

Credit checks

In order to fulfil our obligations as responsible lenders, we will carry out a credit check on eligible applicants to accurately understand your financial situation and ensure that your new consolidated loan is an affordable path out of debt, not a further burden.

Having a bad credit score that a bank may not accept doesn’t mean you won’t be accepted for a loan with us, provided that your capacity to make loan repayments and your future creditworthiness are established.

Responsible lending to responsible borrowers

At Salt & Lime, we take an approach that puts the control in our customer’s hands. As an organisation that practices responsible lending, we extend a level of trust to our customers that they will manage their personal loans responsibly and stay committed to a schedule of repayments.
